Project description:

The aim of this project was to promote American art in Croatia. The Academy has been visited several times by the professors from Rider University. In May 2017, Dr. Kathy Price and Jonathan Price visited the Academy. During her residency, Dr. Kathy Price gave daily lectures and individual exercises with students of solo singing, primarily working on singing technique, and later on repertoire and vocal styles. The topics of the lecture were: “Introduction to American Choral Music” and “Vocal Health”. In order to convey the experience to the students of the Academy, she conducted rehearsals for the Mixed and Women’s Choir with the theme American Choral Music (Copland, Barber, Bernstein). Jonathan Price delivered six lectures on American Musical Theatre (singing technique, teaching methods and teaching styles), led individual vocal exercises with students of singing, workshops on stylistic approaches and interpretations of American theatre musical, and with Dr. Kathy Price was a member of the jury of the 5th International Singing Competition Lav Mirski, for categories musical and musical ensembles. With the piano accompaniment of Ivan Karša, they performed a solo concert at the Museum of Fine Arts in Osijek. In September 2017, a student from Westminster choir colleague (Rider University) bass-baritone Jake Stamatis visited Croatia as a vocal soloist and guest, representative of their renowned musical institution in the Academy’s opera project – Opera Figaro (W.A.
