Introduction to Music Culture and Art

This programme offers the basic knowledge about music art and culture by giving an introduction to the music language and theory, playing instruments, singing and music literature.

The programme is primarily intended for students of secondary schools and institutions of higher education but anyone is welcome to join the programme. Since no prior musical knowledge is needed, the programme is trying to awake and keep the interest in music art, provide the basic musical knowledge, develop the musical skills of playing and singing and encourage the development of the creative potential in the field of music.

The programme starts with an assessment of musical skills that will define an individual curriculum for each student. The programme is taught by the teachers and associate of the Department of Music of the Academy of Arts and Culture in Osijek as well as the students of the graduate studies of Music Education, Voice and Piano who, guided by their course teachers, participate in the exercises that are part of the course Pedagogical Practice. All these teachers and associates have a lot of experience of implementing different formal and informal forms of music education and are renowned as top experts in their artistic and pedagogical work.

Upon completion of this programme students will acquire the basic knowledge and skills in the fields of music culture and art which enables them to:

–           personally grow and develop their own music potential,

–           independent amateur music work,

–           acquire the basic knowledge and skill for further music development.

Upon completion of the programme students will be able to:

–           understand and use the knowledge and skills according to their capabilities,

–           understand the basics of music art and culture.
