The Strategic Guidelines for the Development of Sustainability in Arts and Culture of the Academy of Arts and Culture of the University of Josip Juraj Strossmayer in Osijek (2023-2030) are included in the Development Strategy of the Academy of Arts and Culture in Osijek, declaring the intention of the institution to complete the teaching and other educational processes and to continuously develop art and science projects based on sustainability in arts and culture as well as its coherence and efficiency.
The Academy will provide academic leadership, direction and focus on the development of sustainability of arts and culture as well as the development of sustainability in arts and culture by incorporating the latest technological achievements in the teaching process, research, business strategy, artistic and cultural practice. An active cooperation between this sector and the local and regional communities is necessary, especially schools, institutions of art and culture, associations, entrepreneurs, IT professionals, innovators, etc.
The vice-dean for the development of sustainability in arts and culture is the coordinator of the Committee for the Development of Sustainability at the Academy. The coordinator and the members of the team will encourage the students and employees of the Academy to adopt sustainable practices and standards of behaviour, to exchange knowledge and to implement the best cultural and artistic practices in the activities of the Academy in accordance with the sustainable development goals of the United Nations (Agenda 2030) and the regulations of the Academy.
Taking into consideration the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of the United Nations and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, we propose guidelines which have already been applied in the activities of the Academy and which can be applied in the future scientific and artistic work:
1) protect human rights;
2) achieve gender equality;
3) ensure healthy lives and well-being for all at all ages;
4) ensure inclusive and quality education and the promotion of lifelong learning;
5) use art and culture in order to make cities and settlements (local community) inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable;
6) protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems (especially forests, water and soil);
7) promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development (especially persons with disabilities, ethnic and other minorities);
8) contribute to the green transition (raising awareness of climate changes, using innovative programmes with the reduced carbon footprint, etc.);
9) contribute to the digital transition (publishing e-books, digitalisation of content, production of video games, etc.).
Taking into consideration the 2030 National Development Strategy of the Republic of Croatia and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of the United Nations, the Strategic Guidelines for the Development of Sustainability in Arts and Culture of the Academy of Arts and Culture in Osijek from 2023 until 2030 recognise the adequate development strategies as well as national and global guidelines for sustainable development which have been included in this document:
1) develop scientific areas which deal with national heritage and national identity;
2) considering social changes caused by economic and technological achievements, ensure better support to the basic and interdisciplinary research as well as the digital transformation in science;
