Information for Students with Disabilities
The Academy of Arts and Culture in Osijek devotes a great deal of care and attention to students with disabilities. Students with disabilities are students who, due to illnesses, injuries or disorders, have constant, occasional or temporary difficulties when participating in everyday academic activities. These difficulties arise due to vision impairment, hearing impairment, physical disability, various injuries, chronic diseases, mental illnesses and disorders. Also, learning difficulties may be caused by disorders such as dyslexia, dysgraphia or ADHD.
Enrolment of students with disabilities at the Academy of Arts and Culture in Osijek
Candidates with disabilities can enrol in any study programme carried out at the Academy. The enrolment of future students of the Academy is based on the results of the state graduation exam (Matura examination) and the entrance exam, i.e. the results of the additional tests of specific knowledge, skills and talents required by each study programme (except the study programmes of the Department of Culture, Media and Management which do not include specific tests). Candidates with disabilities have the right to an adapted entrance examination process and in order to exercise that right they should contact the members of the Committee for the Provision of Information and Support to Students with Disabilities or the Student Administration Office of the Academy.

Committee for the Improvement of the Support System and the Provision of Information to Students with Disabilities of the Academy of Arts and Culture in Osijek
The Committee for the Provision of Information and Support to Students with Disabilities is a committee appointed by the Academy Council which provides support to students with disabilities during their study at the Academy.
The tasks of the Committee:
- provide information to future students with disabilities regarding the possibilities of studying at the Academy and ensure reasonable changes to the entrance examination process,
- offer information, advice and help to students with disabilities so that they could exercise their rights,
- provide support to students with disabilities regarding their student obligations and other issues related to their study at the Academy,
- communicate and act as intermediary between teachers, student services and students with disabilities in order to offer help and advice during the implementation of changes to the teaching process, teaching materials, exam tasks and other issues related to the study at the Academy,
- promote and encourage the inclusion of students with disabilities in higher education.

Office for Students with Disabilities of the University of Josip Juraj Strossmayer in Osijek
The Academy closely cooperates with the Office for Students with Disabilities of the University of Josip Juraj Strossmayer in Osijek. The main tasks of the Office include the provision of information and support as well as the fulfilment of the individual needs of students with disabilities.
The Office for Students with Disabilities does the following:
- provides professional help to students with disabilities,
- pays attention to the needs of students with disabilities in order to improve their study process and accommodation,
- improves international cooperation and exchange of students with disabilities,
- provides professional help when applying for and completing national and international projects,
- ensures quality approach to higher education to students who, due to illnesses or disorders, experience difficulties when participating in everyday academic activities.
The University Office for Students with Disabilities is located at the University Campus at the crossroads of these two streets: Cara Hadrijana and Kralja Petra Svačića.

Procedure for acquiring the status of a student with disabilities:
The registration at the Office for Students with Disabilities of the University of Josip Juraj Strossmayer in Osijek is not mandatory. However, students are advised to register because registered students can gain additional rights.

One can register in person at the Office for Students with Disabilities of the University, the Student Administration Office of the Academy of Arts and Culture in Osijek or the Committee for Students with Disabilities of the Academy.
Rights and possibilities of using additional student grants:
Students with disabilities have certain student rights and possibilities in accordance with the National Plan for Enhancing the Social Dimension of Higher Education in the Republic of Croatia 2019-2021 and other regulations on the national level or the level of the University of Josip Juraj Strossmayer in Osijek. Members of the Committee for the Provision of Information and Support to Students with Disabilities, the Office for Students with Disabilities of the University and the Student Administration Office of the Academy provide information about certain rights as well as advice and help regarding the procedure for the recognition of certain rights.
Right to enrolment regardless of the enrolment quotas
Candidates with disability rating of 60% or higher are entitled to the enrolment in study programmes regardless of the regular quotas and their ranking if they pass the entrance exam.
Right to subsidised accommodation
The right to subsidised accommodation is granted to students with disabilities (categories 1-5).
The right to partially reimbursed travel expenses
This right is granted to full-time students with disability rating of 60% or higher.
The use of specialised equipment for students with disabilities
The University of Josip Juraj Strossmayer in Osijek has provided specialised equipment for students with disabilities. This equipment should be used during the teaching process and the fulfilment of everyday student obligations. It can be used in the Office for Students with Disabilities, but it can be borrowed too. Applying for University scholarships
Students with disabilities can apply for scholarships awarded by the University of Josip Juraj Strossmayer in Osijek which belong to C2 category intended for students with disabilities.
Applying for state scholarships for special groups of students
Students with disabilities can apply for scholarships awarded by the Ministry of Science and Education.
Right to personal assistance
The Academy can organise students/assistants to help students with disabilities carry out their everyday student obligations.
Activities of students with disabilities and activities related to persons with disabilities at the Academy of Arts and Culture
The Academy encourages students with disabilities to participate in extracurricular activities and wholeheartedly supports the recognition and success of its students with disabilities. The aim of different activities is to eliminate discrimination against students with disabilities who participate in art programmes. Each year, the Academy organises a celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities that includes various project activities the aim of which is to promote and encourage studying and higher education of persons with disabilities and to ensure that persons with disabilities can attend art events prepared for them by the students of the Academy. This way, the teachers who participate in the preparation of these events also teach the students of the Academy how to adapt programmes and events to persons with disabilities.
