Abstract:

The research project focuses on the cultural and transcultural phenomena that permeate local and global cultural identities. It investigates the traditionally established and adopted artistic, performative, dramatic, musical, literary and linguistic patterns and identities, as well as identifies the under researched and/or less systematized areas of culture (language, literature and the arts). Within the selected research areas, the project establishes and defines new paradigms and typologies and supports the creation of cultural archives. The spaces of scientific inquiry within the project are local, regional, national and transnational and the specific areas of study include transcultural relationships in performing arts and culture, visual theatre, adaptations and the Western literary canon, theater criticism in Osijek (1940-1990), architectural heritage of Eastern Slavonia in Croatian and European contexts, preservation, promotion and popularization of traditional Slavonian music identity and the application of artificial intelligence for preserving the Croatian language identity. The goal of the project is to establish new scientific paradigms for the understanding of cultural relationships in the context of rapid global change in which materials, performances and works are not only viewed as folkloric legacy, but as dynamic, critical and political acts of articulating identity and belonging. The project also includes the contemporary reading of traditional works, acts and artifacts which will result in a repository of scientific, intellectual and artistic materials. This approach will enable the accessibility, transparency and sustainability of academic research to connect scholars from Croatia, Europe and the world.

Keywords: culture; identity; scientific paradigms; place theory; archives; interdisciplinary approach; digital repository
