My name is Rūta Jēkabsone, I am from Latvia and I study at the Latvian Academy of Culture. In the summer semester of the academic year 2025/2026. I went for a study exchange semester in the Academy of Arts and Culture Osijek. I had 4 transformative months in Osijek, studying about history and practices of art as well as challenging myself in socialising and in independence. I worked with wonderful professors at the academy who are passionate about what they do and are willing to go above and beyond for their students. I was thrilled to live in a city that is not the capital, so I gained new experiences and met great people in different faculties of the University in Osijek. This experience has changed my approach to studies and to research, so I am continuing my pursuit of bachelor’s degree with a fresh outlook and different goals than I started with.
