/ Clay Modelling and the Potter's Wheel

This programme is the result of the cooperation between the teachers of the Academy of Arts and Culture in Osijek and the economic sector, i.e. the ceramic artists in the region with a rich tradition of producing and teaching different techniques of clay modelling: coil, slab and potter’s wheel. Eastern Croatia is renowned for its archaeological sites and permanent exhibitions in museums across the region. Therefore, there is a great interest in this region for traditional and contemporary clay modelling which requires the development of motor and visual skills as well as the knowledge of the technology and the basic and advanced techniques.

Programme duration: 40 hours.

Enrolment conditions:

The Academy of Arts and Culture in Osijek does not impose special enrolment conditions.

Outcomes

Upon completion of this programme students will be able to:

  • model clay and use the potter’s wheel
  • know and use tools and materials
  • research different types of professional sources related to clay modelling
  • independently create a sculpture, relief and utility object
  • analyse and explain one’s own concept from the initial idea to the final product
  • create and evaluate new facts and extend the boundaries
