Saša Došen’s work encompasses costume, set, puppet and mask design as well as video for professional theatrical productions, visual communications and site-specific installation art. Since 2007 she is employed at The Academy of Arts and Culture in Osijek as assistant, 2010 as assistant professor, and since 2018 as associate professor of arts. She has been head of The Department of visual arts (2010-2012) and head of The Department of
Applied Arts (2014-2019), now The Department of Creative Technologies. Sice december 2018 she is acting as vice-dean of arts, quality and strategy.
Saša Došen was a member of a team that designed and implemented BA Theatre Design (the only course educating future costume, set and puppet designers in Croatia and broader region), as well as MA courses: Set Design, Costume Design and Puppet Design and Technology.
In 2011 she has received the Award for most inventive, visually most coherent and most inventive puppet design for the play “U potrazi za čudovištima” at the 23rd Conference of Puppeteers and Puppet Theatres of Croatia — SLUK. She was nominated for Croatian Theatre Awards: for
Best Set Design for the play “Doljnjodravska 11” in 2019 and for Best Costume Design for the play “260 DANA” in 2015. In her personal work as well as in her work with students she aspires to development of critical thinking, research, assessment of coneptual and visual representations through experiment, symbolic, provocation and diving into ludic reality that surpasses the boundaries of the conventional, and articulate synthesis of ideas translated into visual vocabulary.
