Abstract
The study explores digital games as a subset of digital culture in media studies, educational
sciences, and culture. It analyses digital games and the digital world through
pedagogical and cultural values. Building on Kellner’s media culture theories,
Vuk-Pavlović’s philosophy of education, and Huizinga’s game theory, the study uses
qualitative content analysis for an interdisciplinary analysis of contemporary media
culture. Cultural meanings are interpreted using critical theory and the philosophy
of education. Digital games reflect media values, messages, and serve as cultural
communication. Media meanings represent media ideology and promote cultural
values. Ultimately, digital games are a significant and relatively new phenomenon in
media pedagogy, impacting society and culture in Eagleton’s sense. Digital games,
like those analysed through Vuk-Pavlović’s philosophy, promote ethical and cultural
values through interactivity and narratives. They not only entertain but also educate,
shaping moral and social norms through media messages and pedagogical principles.
