Project description
The Academy of Culture in Osijek takes pride in the fact that it is the first and only puppet school in Croatia: puppetry is also studied at the Department of Theater Arts. In the 6th semester students prepare an independent project for the final puppetry exam. Encouraged by the quality and maturity of these exams, as well as their success at festivals at home and abroad, the Academy decided to organize a revue of the best puppet test performances, so that the general public could get to know and enjoy them. The puppet showcases young talents and enriches the cultural scene for young people, because not only are performances performed by young performers, but they are frequent performances for young people and adults, which is a river phenomenon in Croatian puppetry. In addition, the way and results of working in the study of acting and puppetry are presented, thus contributing to the popularization of the studies. Performances, lectures, exhibitions present the work of other academies – each year an academy from abroad. Puppet workshops are held by teachers from other academies for our students and our teachers by foreign students. The purpose of holding international scientific and professional meetings within the Puppet Show is to encourage the scientific study of puppetry, to contribute to the improvement of the quality and efficiency of higher education and research, and to intensify communication between students, teachers, theatrologists, theater critics, scientists and puppetry artists – actors, directors and set designer.
