The Department of Theatre functions in accordance with the Bologna Process principles such as: developing course modules, totally separated cycles, learning outcomes and competences, adaptable students’ workload, etc. The study is based on the 3+2 model. The undergraduate study programme of acting and puppetry is unique in Europe because it develops the parallel performance competences which are clearly combined in the final works of students. The specific nature of the performance potential of Osijek students has encouraged the development of new graduate study programmes: Acting, Non-Verbal Theatre, Puppet Animation, Puppetry Directing. These programmes can be studied singly or in combination.

The Department of Theatre is being active and it keeps developing on two very important levels: on the one hand, it keeps confirming its presence in the city and the region by means of various stage projects and interventions while also participating in the important artistic meetings in Croatia; on the other hand, it continuously works on joining the international university network. The students of the Academy are present on the professional stage as the indispensable members of the Croatian theatre.
