Chorus Music

Lately, there is an increased interest for the chorus music that can be found on all the levels of educational system from preschool to higher education as well as during the leisure time of children and adults. As chorus music is becoming increasingly popular and present in the cultural life of the community, there is a need for additional training of chorus directors in terms of developing their singing, conducting, educational and managerial competencies. There is a need for improvement, especially among the multitude of choruses that exist within the educational system. It is necessary to improve teaching methods, update teaching material and increase teaching competencies. This is supported by the latest research in Great Britain and the USA: How Children, Adults, and Communities Benefit from Choruses – The Chorus Impact Study (USA), (2009), Welch, R. (2008), National singing Programme in England: an initial impact evaluation of children’s singing behaviours and singer creativity 2007-2011.

The purpose of this programme is to achieve the artistic and pedagogical improvement of chorus leaders regardless of their formal education which will lead to further quality improvement of chorus art.
